2011 Nomination Update

Important: At this time KJLS and KSF has agreed to implement DNA in meat goats in 2011.  In 2011 we will continue to use the same nomination process as 2010, with minor paperwork changes to increase efficiency and addition to DNA hair samples in meat goats.

Important Update on Meat Goats at Kansas State Fair in 2011:
On March 8, 2011 the Kansas State Fair Board approved the Grand Drive committee recommendation to allow meat goats to show on the first weekend of the Fair and participate in the Grand Drive on the first Saturday evening. The meat goats will be housed in the Livestock Annex. The meat goat show will be a 4-H/FFA show.  Only Kansas 4-H members who were 9 years of age but not yet 19 years of age before January 1 of the current year are eligible to compete in this division.  Goats will need to be nominated by June 15 to show at the Kansas State Fair. The Kansas State Fair recognizes the hard work from everyone involved and looks forward to the addition of the new show.    - Debbie Anderson, KSF
