Animal Sciences and Industry Graduates from the Kansas State University will have demonstrated:

1.   The ability to apply critical thinking skills in the context of distinguishing fact. 

2.   The application of scientific principles to animal sciences.

3.   The ability to learn and develop skills to deal with potential changes and 

diversity in animal sciences and related industries. 

4.   Awareness of and appreciation of ethical practice and diversity within the livestock and companion animal industries.

5.   Ability to use oral and written communication skills effectively in a group or team environment. 

6.   Competence in quantitative skills. 

7.   Experience with computers and other emerging information technologies and their application to animal sciences and related industries.

M.S. Program, Department of Animal Sciences and Industry
1. Advanced knowledge and understanding in an area of emphasis offered by the Graduate
Faculty in the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry.
2. Competency in the collection, analyses and interpretation of data as it relates to the
scholarship of their area of emphasis.
3. Competency in oral communication and scholarly writing in the form of a master’s thesis
or report.
 
Student Learning Outcomes
Ph.D. Program, Department of Animal Sciences and Industry
1. A thorough command of knowledge in an area of emphasis offered by the Graduate Faculty
in the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry.
2. An ability to apply critical scientific thought in the application of hypothesis formation, and
the design and execution of experiments.
3. Competency in the collection, analyses and interpretation of data as it relates to the
scholarship of their area of emphasis.
4. Competency in oral communication and scholarly writing in the form of a doctoral
dissertation.
