
Location
The KSU Dairy Processing Plant is situated in Call Hall which is on the north side of campus. Call Hall is at the intersection of Mid Campus Dr. and Claflin. The Dairy Processing area is 120’ x 80’ located in the northwest wing of Call Hall. There are 3 full time employees in the plant, and up to 7 student workers. Currently the facility processes fluid milk, ice cream, cheese, and butter. Fluid milk and ice cream are purchased by K-State Housing and Dining. Ice cream is also purchased by several Manhattan area businesses for resale. All other products are available through the Dairy Sales counter for retail sales.
History
The facility moved to Call Hall in 1964 to provide a modern dairy processing unit for teaching, research and extension activities. The unit is a part of Animal Sciences and Industry department at K-State. The K-State dairy products are well known among the alumni, staff, students, and local residents for their high quality and superb flavor. All the milk used in the plant comes from the university's dairy farm.
Facilities
The Dairy Sales counter is located next to the main processing plant. There is one full time employee and up to 10 student workers. It is open to the general public Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 6:00 pm and Saturday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The unit (Call Hall 155) has facilities to process fluid milk, ice cream, cheese, and butter. The unit is used for teaching, research, and extension activities. It serves as a laboratory for many students in the department of Animal Sciences. They learn about processing and marketing of dairy products. The dairy products are sold through the sales counter (Call Hall 144) attached to the unit. The dairy bar is conveniently located next to the parking lot.
Dairy Products Available
Fluid Milk - Whole milk, 2% milk, skim milk, and chocolate milk.
Ice cream - Over 35 flavors (1/2 gall
Cheese - Cheddar, Colby, Monterey Jack, Pepper Jack, and Processed cheese (plain, bacon, & jalapeno)
Butter - Salted and unsalted
Other - Select meats and eggs
Soda
The meat department was moved into the Sales counter August 2006 after an expansion of the sales area. There is a wide range of meats to select from including beef, pork, and lamb. The meats department also has specialty seasonal items such as smoked turkey, smoked hams, summer sausage, barbeque beef, barbeque pork, and wildcat loaf.

Cheese and meat gift boxes - Cheese and meat gift boxes are sold all year. They are popular gift items especially during Christmas. It has become a tradition for many of our customers to present these boxes as gifts to their friends and family members throughout the country.
